About Prayer

Prayer is how we talk to God.

We can talk to God like we do
with our family and friends.

We can talk to God out loud or
we can just think our prayers.

Some things we say when we pray are:
We thank God for what we have.
We ask God to help us.
We ask God to help other people.
We tell God we are sorry
if we did something wrong.

We can pray anywhere and at any time
because God loves to hear from us!

About God

There is only one God.
God is three persons.

God the Father
is the creator of everything.

God the Son, Jesus Christ,
lived with us and taught us
about the kingdom of heaven.

God the Holy Spirit
is always with us and will help us
make good decisions, if we ask him.

Prayer Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord,
and these thy gifts,
for which we are about to receive,
from thy bounty
through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Food and drink
upon this table
let’s give thanks
’cause we are able.
Amen.

Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
May angels watch me
through the night,
and wake me with the morning light.
Amen.

Guardian Angel Prayer

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
to whom God’s love
commits me here.
Ever this day be at my side,
to light, to guard,
to rule, to guide.
Amen.

Family Prayer

God made us a family.

We need one another.
We love one another.
We forgive one another.

We work together.
We play together.
We worship together.

Together we love all people.
Together we grow in faith.
Together we serve our God.

Thank you God
for all of my family.
Amen.

Our Father

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

The Bible

God talks to us through the Bible.
Here are a few things he tells us.

God loves all children
and wants them to come to him.

God wants us to treat others
the way we want to be treated.

God wants us to be good
and obey his rules.

Love and Sin

God is love
and God wants us to love.
Sin is when we don’t love,
and we don’t do what God wants.
God wants us to be…

humble, not prideful
sharing, not greedy
loving, not selfish
patient, not angry
moderate, not excessive
kind, not mean
active, not lazy

Act of Contrition

My God,
I am sorry for my sins
with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong,
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love
above all things.
I firmly intend,
with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever
leads me to sin.
Amen.
